Highlander Marching Band |
|
All
band students are members of the Marching Band. It
is made up of 9th -12th grade students, Winds,
Percussion, Bag Pipes, and Scottish Dancers. The
Marching Band performs at school football games,
numerous Parades and Competitions around Central Florida, and for the
Florida Bandmasters Association Music Performance
Assessment held in the Fall.

Symphonic Band |
|
The Symphonic Band is the
premiere performing ensemble at Dunedin High School. The
group in an audition-only ensemble selecting the finest
musicians from DHS to perform and compete throughout the
year.
The Symphonic Band performs once in the Fall and three times
in the Spring. Once at the Florida Bandmasters Association
Music Performance Assessment, Final concert, and at
Graduation.

Concert Band |
|
The Concert Band
is one of Dunedin High School's instrumental
ensembles. They perform three times a year, one Fall
concert and two Spring concerts. The primary goal of
the Concert Band is to prepare students with the
technical, musical, and philosophical tools needed
to be a member of the Symphonic Band.
The Concert Band
earned Excellent Ratings at the 2006 FBA Concert MPA.

Pipe
Band |
|
The Pipe Band is
unique to Dunedin High School. Grade 4-A pipe band competes throughout the year at many of
the Highland Games and Celtic Festivals in the
United States, Canada, and Scotland.
The pipe band is lead by Mr. Sandy Keith, a world
renowned piper.
Grade 4 Champion Supreme

Percussion Ensemble |
|
With the addition
of a Percussion Techniques course, we are adding a
percussion ensemble. They will perform a variety of
music using a vast array of instrument
possibilities, from Brake Drums and Trash Cans to
Marimbas and Tam-Tams. |

2 O'clock Lab Band |
|
The Jazz Ensemble
meets after school once a week and performs on the
Winter and End of year concert. members are from
both bands and all levels of performing abilities. |
|
Chamber Orchestra |
|
Orchestra is a New
Addition to the DHS Curriculum. The DHS Orchestra
rehearses during school and members are encouraged
to join the Pinellas Youth Symphony. |
|

FBA STATE PREPARATIONS |
The Dunedin High School Band will be going to the
FBA State Concert Assessment. This year the location
is at Northport High School near Sarasota, FL. The
Dates are April 30 - May 3, 2007. Once a date is
finalized, more information will be handed out.
Now is the time to prepare for FBA
State Concert Assessment.

The Dunedin High School Scottish Highlander Band
earned and overall Superior Rating at the 2007
Florida Bandmasters Association Music Performance
Assessment.
The FBA Program Consisted of:
